Born: In 1883 in Whitchurch, Shropshire and baptised on 23 November the same year in St. Alkmund’s Parish Church, Whitchurch.

Family: He was one of ten children born to Benjamin and Martha Bedford (nee Breeze). He married Margaret Ellen Williams in 1906 and they later had a daughter named Ethel Hilda

Residence: In 1891 he was living at Dairy House & Dairy Cottage, Dodington, Whitchurch with his parents, seven siblings and a servant.

Employment: He was a horse trader when he enlisted

Death: He committed suicide on 28 June 1914 and was buried in Whitchurch cemetery on 1 July the same year.
