Born: In 1866 in Whitchurch, Shropshire and baptised at St. Alkmund’s parish Church in the same town on 23rd April 1866

Family: He was one of six children born to John and Ann Broomfield. He married Sarah Ann Cross on 31 October 1892 and together they had six children – Maggie, Sarah Ann, Lily, John Thomas, Ethel and Alfred.

Residence: In 1871 he was living at 24 Yardington, Whitchurch with his parents and siblings. In 1881 he was living at 14 Challinors Buildings, Wolstanton, Staffordshire with his father and siblings (his mother had died). In 1891 he was on military service and in 1901 he was still on military service and his wife, Sarah Ann, and children were living at 35 America Street, Tunstall, Staffordshire.

Employment: He was a collier when he enlisted.

Death: At Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire in 1922
