Born: 6 September 1868 in Whitchurch, Shropshire.

Family: He was the son of Sarah Piggott, previously Brown. Our research suggests he had two siblings, but we cannot confirm this or the identity of his father. He married Mary Ellen Callwood in 1902 and together they had two sons.

Residence: In 1871 and 1881 our research suggests he was living in Hinton, near Whitchurch, Shropshire with his paternal grandparents. In 1891 and 1901 he was away on military service.

Employment: He was a labourer when he enlisted.

Death: Aged 73 on 29 March 1942 in The Infirmary, Stockport, Cheshire.
