Born: 8 April 1880 in Dodcott near Wrenbury, Cheshire and baptised 19 June 1881

Family: He was one of nine children born to Thomas and Louisa Burgess. He was unmarried at the time of the Boer War, subsequently marrying Clara L Chambers in 1911 at King’s Norton, Warwickshire

Residence: In 1881 and 1891 he was living in Burleydam with his parents and siblings; in 1901 the family were living at 7 Brownlow Street, Whitchurch 

Employment: He was a watchmaker, apprenticed to Joyces of Whitchurch when he enlisted

Death: In 1921 in Kings Norton, Warwickshire and was buried 4 July the same year at St Peter’s, Harbourne, Staffordshire
