Born: 23 February 1877 in Loppington, Shropshire and baptised 25 March that year at Loppington Parish Church

Family: He was one of five children born to Thomas and Elizabeth Copnall. He married Agnes Eva Stella Rice Byrne in Llanfyllin, Montgomeryshire, Wales in 1902 and together they had three children.

Residence: In 1881 he lived in Cumbers Road, Hanmer, Flintshire, Wales with his family; by 1891 they had moved to Great Arowry, Hanmer. In 1901 he was serving in South Africa.

Employment: He was a butcher when he enlisted, having served 3 years 6 months apprenticed to Josiah Jones.

Died: In 1955, age 78, in Wrexham, North Wales and buried in Wrexham Cemetery
