Born: In 1880 in Whitchurch, Shropshire.

Family: He was one of eight children born to John and Sarah Corfield. He married Nessie Groom on 27 May 1908 in Bronington Parish Church, Flintshire, Wales and together they had one child.

Residence: In 1881 he lived with his family in Hollin Lane, Whitchurch; by 1891 they had moved to Farm Lane, Whitchurch and in 1901 he was living in Belton Road, Whitchurch.  

Employment: He was a bricklayer when he enlisted.

Death: In 1932 in Woodbridge, Middlesex, New Jersey, USA

Other information: William returned to South Africa after the Boer War, returning to the UK in 1905. The family emigrated to USA in 1913.
