Other information: He enlisted into 32 Company (2nd Lancashire Hussars) Imperial Yeomanry having previously served with 2nd Battalion (Volunteers) King’s Shropshire Light Infantry. Edwin was also listed as a P.O.W. and was released at Zeekoegat on 7 Apr 1901

Born:  27 October 1878 in Whitchurch, Shropshire and baptised 14 January 1879 in St. Mary’s Church, Shrewsbury.

Family: He was one of six children born to Edwin and Ellen Edge (nee Bliss). He married Sarah Ann Boaz in 1913 and they had one daughter, Clara, together.

Residence: In 1881 he was living at Colley’s Buildings, Shrewsbury with his parents and siblings. By 1891 the family had moved to 6 Highgate, Whitchurch. By 1901 Edwin was serving in South Africa.

Employment: He was a clockmaker at Joyces Clocks, having been apprenticed for seven years, when he enlisted.

Death: In 1915 in Whitchurch and was buried on 7 December the same year in Whitchurch cemetery. Edwin’s age at death was given as 34 which was three years less than his date of birth would suggest.
