Born: In 1869 in Whitchurch, Shropshire.

Family: He was one of five children born to Edward and Maria Edwards (nee Sadler). He married Harriett Thackwray in 1893 in Pontefract, Yorkshire and together they had four children.

Residence: In 1871 he was living at 38 Highgate, Dodington, Whitchurch with his parents and siblings; by 1881 they had moved to 28 George Street, Brightside Bierlow, Sheffield, Yorkshire. In 1891 he was living  at Robertblose Barracks, Tanshelf, Pontefract, Yorkshire and in 1901 he lived at 68 Tipton Street, Brightside Bierlow, Sheffield, Yorkshire. (He was a private 2nd Army Reserve home on sick leave.)

Employment: He was a labourer when he enlisted in 1886.

Died: 31 January 1919 in Pontefract, aged 48.
