Born: 26 February 1875, Whitchurch, Shropshire.
Family: He was the last of eight children born to James Pilsbury and his wife Jane (nee Hawkins). He married Mary Jane McDowell on the 12th May 1895 at St. Mary’s Church, Chester. At the time of enlisting he was father to James Frederick & William. The couple had four further children, Lilian, Ada, Harry and Edith Alice.
Residence: In 1881 he was living at 4 Edwards Court, Chester and according to the 1891 census he was living at 3 Edwards Court. By 1901 he had moved to 1 Shuttleworth Cottage, Common Hall Street, Chester.
Employment: He was a blacksmith prior to joining the military in 1901.
Death: 8th March 1949 in Chester age 73.
