Born: 1869 in Prees, Shropshire and baptised 12 September 1869 in Ightfield Parish Church.

Family: He was one of eight children born to William and Anne Roberts (nee Roden). Sadly George’s mother died before he was twelve years old. He married Frances Hand in 1905 and together they had six children.

Residence: In 1871 he lived in Corra Road, Ightfield, Shropshire with his parents and siblings; by 1881 they had moved to Willaston, Prees. In 1891 he was a farm servant in Wrockwardine, Shropshire; by 1901 he was serving with the military in India.

Employment: He was a labourer when he enlisted.

Death: Most probably 1914 in Whitchurch, Shropshire, aged 45.
