Born: In 1876 in Derby, Derbyshire and baptised on 9 July the same year in Derby.

Family: He was one of seven children born to William and Ellen Sandland. A possible marriage has been identified for Percy in Durban, South Africa to Edith Willy in January 1905. Together they had at least two children, Percy born in 1905 and William Robert in 1918.

Residence: In 1881 he was living with his family at Temple Lodge, St. Werburgh, Derby; in 1891 he was lodging at Broughall Cottage, Broughall, Whitchurch, Shropshire. By 1891 his parents had moved to Ash Magna, Shropshire.

Employment: He was a groom when he enlisted

Death: A possible death has been identified on 28th October 1949 in Pietmaritsburg, South Africa.
