Born: His military records and census records suggest he was born in 1860 in Whitchurch, Shropshire. Research has been unable to confirm this from a birth registration.

Family: Research has been unable to locate a birth registration and therefore identify his parents and siblings. He married Alice Emily Phillips on 10 July 1887 in Funtington (registration district of Westbourne), Sussex and together they had eight children.

Residence: He was married in Sussex and was living in Portsmouth in 1888 and 1890 where his first two children were born. In 1891 he was living at 7 Lower Pellifer Road, Woolwich, Kent and in 1896 in Ireland where his next daughter was born. In 1898 he was living at the Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich and in 1901 he was living at 48 Red Lion Lane, Shooters Hill, Plumstead, Kent.

Employment: He was a clerk prior to enlisting

Death: Possibly 1939 in Woolwich.
