Other information: He had previously served in India; he was wounded at Ladysmith on 22 February 1900. He re-enlisted in 1914 into the King’s Shropshire Light Infantry, serving in this regiment and 1st Liverpool Regiment in WW1, being finally discharged on 3 April 1919. Born: 24 May 1866 in Ightfield, Whitchurch, Shropshire and baptised on 12 June 1866 in Ash Parish Church.

Family: He was one of nine children born to Henry and Jane Faulkner (nee Ellison). He married Sarah Edwards on 6 May 1899 in Nantwich, Cheshire and together they had one child.

Residence: In 1871 he lived with his parents and siblings in Edstaston, Shropshire; in 1881 he was boarding in Church Street, Sawley, Derbyshire. In 1901 he was living in Waldron’s Lane, Church Coppenhall, Cheshire. At the time of George’s discharge in 1902 his address was 28 Kents Lane, also in Coppenhall, Cheshire

Employment: He was a labourer in an engine repair shop when he enlisted.

Died: In 1943 in Whitchurch, age given as 75.
