Family: He was one of five children born to Henry Charles and Sarah Hayes (nee Challenor). He married Edith Elizabeth Edge in 1906 and together they had four children.
Residence: In 1881 he was living in Station Road, Prees with his parents and siblings; in 1891 he was a servant at Longner Hall, Atcham, Shropshire.
Employment: He was a domestic page when he enlisted.
Death: 28th June 1956 in Shrewsbury, Shropshire aged 80
