Born: June 1872 in Whitchurch Shropshire and baptised 7 April 1875 in St Alkmund’s Parish Church, Whitchurch.
Family: He was one of eight children born to Peter and Mary Ann Phillips. No marriage has been found for Peter.
Residence: In 1881 Peter was living with his parents and siblings at 50 Yardington, Whitchurch. In 1891 he enlisted in the Scots Guards. Seven later he returned to the family home at 15 Sherry Mill Hill, Whitchurch
Employment: He was a labourer when he enlisted.
Death: He died of a heart condition whilst in service on the 8 July 1902 in Johannesburg, South Africa
