RETURNED FROM THE WAR – Private F.W. Heatley, one of the Whitchurch Volunteers who, with others left for South Africa on March 1st last, had a great reception when he returned on Monday evening. His father went to meet him at Shrewsbury, and the train arrived in good time, about 8.20. SHROPSHIRE AND THE SOUTH AFRICAN WAR ............................................. Lance-Corporal J. Chatterton, who is reported to be dangerously wounded at Reit Vlei, on July 16th, is the son of Mr. T. Chatterton of Edgeley, Whitchurch, Salop. Private Yeo, son of Mr. R. Yeo, Greenfields, Shrewsbury, and Private Heatley, son of Mr. Heatley of 9, Yardington Street, Whitchurch, are dangerously ill, the former at Springfontein and the latter at Bloemfontein.
