In 1881 the 33rd (Duke of Wellington’s) Regiment was amalgamated with the 76th Regiment. The newly formed Regiment became The Duke of Wellington’s (West Riding Regiment) and served in the Boer War (1899-1902) fighting at Paardeberg and Kimberley
