Born: 8 April 1871 in Cuddington, Cheshire and baptised on 3 May the same year in St. Oswald’s Parish Church, Malpas, Cheshire. He was named George and all civil records are in the name of George Vaughan.
Family: He was one of five children born to George and Elizabeth Vaughan. He married Annie Elizabeth Lockyer in 1896 in Wem, Shropshire and together they had two daughters named Olive and Blanche. Annie died in 1927 and George remarried in 1932to Eleanor Breeze in Wellington, Shropshire.
Residence: At the time of his baptism the family were living in Cuddington. By 1881 they had moved to Chorlton, Cheshire. In 1901, whilst George was serving in South Africa, his wife and daughters were living at Roden Lodge, Aston Road, Wem.
Employment: He was a butcher when he enlisted.
Death: 19 January 1941 in Loppington, near Wem, aged 69.
